Former Cambodian Agriculture Minister Chan Sarun Dies at 81

Chan Sarun, former Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and a Member of Parliament for Takeo province, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the age of 81. The cause of death was reported as old age. His body was laid to rest at his residence located at House No. 60, Street 310, Sangkat Boeung Keng Kang 1, Khan Boeung Keng Kang, Phnom Penh. A traditional funeral service was held on September 2, 2026. The ceremony was attended by a delegation from the Ministry of Information, led by Minister Net Pheaktra, who paid their respects to the deceased. Chan Sarun was recognized for his long-standing contributions to Cambodia's agricultural sector, playing a significant role in the country's food security and rural development.
