Pailin Province Begins Road Renovation in Border Area to Facilitate Resident Movement and Economic Activity

In Cambodia's western Pailin Province, a concrete road construction project aimed at facilitating resident movement has commenced on July 31 in the border village of Phsar Prom Cheung, Sala Krao District. This initiative is expected to alleviate difficulties caused by poor road conditions, particularly during the rainy season, and contribute to the revitalization of the local economy. According to Sia Sokhum, the Governor of Sala Krao District, the new road will measure 1,344 meters in length, 5 meters in width, and 0.15 meters in thickness, and will include two drainage systems and one signage. This road will connect Phsar Prom Cheung village to Ou Chhkreum village in Stueng Kach commune, as part of the 2026 commune fund project. Governor Sia Sokhum emphasized that district and provincial leadership consistently prioritize the improvement of gravel and asphalt roads in border areas to facilitate traffic and the transportation of agricultural products to market. He further stressed the importance of individual resident cooperation for the road's longevity, urging them to promptly report any minor damage to village or local authorities for timely repairs, thereby preventing further deterioration. Additionally, residents living along the road have been instructed to maintain tidiness and environmental cleanliness in front of their homes, disposing of waste in designated bins to curb the spread of airborne diseases. Road users are also reminded to adhere to traffic laws to avoid accidents, injuries, fatalities, and associated financial losses.
