Heavy Rains Cause Flooding in Cambodia's Battambang Province, Damaging Infrastructure and Farmland

Flooding has occurred in several areas of Samlot District, Battambang Province, Cambodia, due to continuous heavy rainfall. As of 6:30 AM on September 7, 2026, water levels have risen significantly. Specifically, in the O' Nonong bridge area, located in O' Ta Ti'ek village, Ta Tok commune, the water is rising rapidly and has begun to submerge the bridge. Simultaneously, roads, residents' homes, farmland, and other infrastructure are also experiencing inundation. Authorities will continue to monitor the situation, particularly the water levels in the upstream areas of the Sangke River, to assess the risk of further flooding. This incident highlights the vulnerability of Cambodia's infrastructure and livelihoods to extreme weather events, exacerbated by climate change.
