Chiang Rai Hosts Over 800 Runners for Doitung Sky Race 2026

CHIANG RAI – On July 19, 2026, hundreds of athletes gathered in Northern Thailand for the thrilling Doitung Sky Race 2026. Chiang Rai Governor Chucheep Phongchai kicked off the event at exactly 6:00 AM. The exciting marathon is part of the local “Sports City” project, offering an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. Runners faced cool weather and heavy morning fog, which covered the entire route, creating a magical race environment. Participants enjoyed breathtaking views as they pushed their physical limits. Athletes had two main distance options: a challenging 21-kilometer half-marathon and a shorter 12-kilometer mini-marathon. Both races tested the runners’ endurance and stamina in the steep hills, while the fresh mountain air kept them energized. Top local officials, including Governor Chucheep Phongchai and Surasak Kerdchantuek, Deputy Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, came out to support the running community. The race started smoothly at the Doi Tung Company bus terminal and proceeded up winding mountain paths, with the finish line at the famous Doi Tung Royal Villa in Mae Fa Luang District.
