Vietnam Braces for Heavy Rains in North as Tropical Storm Weakens Over East Sea

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on August 6, Northern and North-Central Vietnam are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, with some areas potentially seeing very heavy downpours. The rainfall, which began on the evening of August 5 and continues into the morning of August 6, could result in 50-100mm of precipitation, and over 200mm in some locations. A warning has been issued for the possibility of rainfall intensity exceeding 100mm per 3 hours. In the coastal areas from Quang Tri to Hue City and the South-Central coast, scattered showers and thunderstorms are anticipated. The Central Highlands and Southern regions will experience showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rains possible in the afternoon and evening (rain in the Southern region is expected to be concentrated in the Eastern areas). Along with thunderstorms, risks of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts are also present. At sea, Tropical Storm No. 3, which recently formed, is rapidly weakening due to the prolonged impact of the strong Typhoon Dolphin. Today, Tropical Storm No. 3 is forecast to downgrade to a tropical depression. In Hanoi, the weather will be cloudy with moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, and very heavy rain in some areas. The lowest temperature will be 25-27°C, and the highest will be 30-32°C. Similar conditions of moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in the Northwest and Northeast regions, with relatively low temperatures. From Thanh Hoa to Hue, the northern part will experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with very heavy rain in some areas, while the southern part will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will range from 24-27°C to 30-33°C. The South-Central coast will have cloudy skies with showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures between 25-28°C and 31-34°C. The Central Highlands will be cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms, and localized heavy rain possible in the afternoon and evening, with temperatures from 20-23°C to 26-29°C. The Southern region will have cloudy skies with showers, and localized heavy rain possible in the afternoon and evening, with temperatures ranging from 24-27°C to 30-33°C. Ho Chi Minh City will experience cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms, and localized heavy rain possible in the afternoon and evening, with temperatures from 25-27°C to 31-33°C. This week, heavy rains are forecast for both the North and South of Vietnam. The Central region will see sunny spells but with thunderstorms in the late afternoon.
