Vietnam Intensifies Efforts to Resolve Digital Transformation Bottlenecks

Vietnam's government has launched intensive nationwide efforts to resolve "bottlenecks" in its digital transformation (DX) initiative. The goal is not merely to complete tasks but to accurately identify true obstacles and create substantial progress. Over an approximately 100-day period, 50 tasks will be implemented across the country. To address this large volume of challenges within a short timeframe, the government demands a resolute and synchronized approach. Particular emphasis is placed on promoting DX at the local government level, seen as a crucial step for the benefits of digitalization to reach all citizens nationwide. Furthermore, reforms are underway to facilitate business activities, including applying DX technologies to local enterprises and removing procedural barriers such as cleaning up tax codes. These measures are expected to contribute to strengthening Vietnam's economic competitiveness. Under its one-party system, Vietnam has been driving state-led economic development, positioning DX as a new engine for growth. However, challenges such as lagging infrastructure development, human resource training issues, and bureaucratic procedures still pose obstacles. This initiative signifies the government's strong determination to confront these challenges head-on and accelerate digitalization.
