Dong Nai Aims to Become Asia-Pacific Aviation Hub by 2045

The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam has set an ambitious goal for Dong Nai province to become a modern aviation hub in the Asia-Pacific region by 2045. This plan aims to expand the province's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) to approximately $150 billion, fostering world-class aviation and aerospace industries. By 2035, Dong Nai strives to become an airport-centric city, a riverside multi-center city, a multi-purpose city, green, and smart. It also aims to reach international standards in high-tech industries, aerospace, and the aviation economy. Residents are expected to enjoy high incomes and a civilized, safe, and happy society. By 2045, Dong Nai is envisioned as a modern aviation hub in the Asia-Pacific region, a dynamic center for the knowledge economy, achieving a high Human Development Index (HDI) and modern urban governance. By 2065, it aims to be a globally connected city, among the top multi-functional airport cities worldwide, with a high quality of life and happiness. In terms of economic growth, Dong Nai targets an average annual GRDP growth of 10% from 2026 to 2030 and plans to maintain this pace in subsequent years. The GRDP is projected to reach approximately $44 billion by 2030, $70 billion by 2035, $150 billion by 2045, and around $600 billion by 2065. Corresponding per capita GRDP is expected to be $9,200, $13,000, $23,000, and $67,500, respectively. To realize these objectives, the Political Bureau calls for a breakthrough overall planning with a 100-year vision. This includes forming strategic development corridors, such as the Ho Chi Minh City - Bien Hoa - Long Thanh - Phuoc An Port corridor, connecting aviation, seaports, logistics, and modern services. Another corridor, Bien Hoa - Dau Giay - Tan Phu - Tay Nguyen, will focus on developing industries, agriculture, eco-tourism, and energy. The Long Thanh - Lam Dong - South Central - Tay Nguyen corridor will link aviation with seaports and highland regions, while the Phuoc Long - Dong Xoai - Chon Thanh - Hoa Lu - Cambodia - Continental ASEAN corridor will develop cross-border logistics and supporting industries. Dong Nai is set to develop an airport city in the vicinity of Long Thanh International Airport, accommodating a population of approximately 2.5 million people. This airport is expected to become Vietnam's primary international gateway, a major international transit hub, and a crucial link in regional and global supply chains. Furthermore, Dong Nai will benefit from preferential policies to become a leading region in advanced technological infrastructure, including data centers, AI, cloud computing, semiconductor industries, quantum technology, biotechnology, new materials, and digital infrastructure, thereby fostering a competitive technological ecosystem regionally and internationally.
