Cambodia and UN Enhance Cooperation for Green Energy Future
Cambodia reaffirmed its partnership with the UN to advance its clean energy transition. The UN pledged continued technical and policy support towards Cambodia's goal of generating 70% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7).
Cambodia has reaffirmed its commitment to further advancing its clean energy transition through its long-standing partnership with the United Nations. Ms. Vladanka Andrreva, UN Resident Coordinator in Cambodia, met with H.E. Keo Rattanak, Minister of Mines and Energy, to reconfirm the strong partnership between the UN and the Cambodian government in promoting the transition to clean energy. The discussions focused on the Royal Government's goal of increasing electricity generation from renewable energy to 70% by 2030. Energy efficiency was also highlighted as a priority area, with the UN expressing its continued commitment to providing technical and policy support. This support is a key pillar for achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7): Affordable and Clean Energy. The UN looks forward to continued cooperation with the Ministry of Mines and Energy Cambodia and relevant partners to promote an inclusive green energy future for the people of Cambodia.
