Marcos has standing order to have Bato dela Rosa arrested --Palace

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro confirmed on Thursday that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. still has a standing order for the arrest of Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa. This is in connection with the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Dela Rosa. "Yes, still, there is," Castro said when asked if Marcos has a standing order to arrest Dela Rosa. The ICC, based in The Hague, had previously issued an arrest warrant for Dela Rosa in connection with the crimes against humanity case against former President Rodrigo Duterte. In May, following a shooting incident at the Senate that led to Dela Rosa temporarily leaving the chamber's premises, Marcos stated that there was no instruction given to anyone to arrest the senator. Earlier this week, rumors circulated that Dela Rosa had already been apprehended, but the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) stated they have "no information" regarding such an event. Castro added that operations by concerned government agencies are ongoing, deferring specific details on the arrest operations to the DOJ and DILG, as they are best informed about the necessary steps. She also mentioned that the Presidential Communications Office’s (PCO) anti-fake news desk is investigating the spread of disinformation regarding Dela Rosa's situation, and whether there was malicious intent behind it. While the origin of the misleading information is yet to be determined, Castro pointed out the possible involvement of "trolls" in its dissemination. Malacañang on Wednesday suggested that claims of Dela Rosa's arrest might be a diversion tactic by allies of Vice President Sara Duterte, aimed at distracting the public from developments in her impeachment trial.
