Poipet Police Arrest Wire Thief, Seize 4 Bundles of Cut Electrical Wires

In Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia, one suspect has been arrested by security forces for allegedly cutting and attempting to steal electrical wires supplying power to a private residence. The incident was reported on August 2, 2026, by Lieutenant Colonel Til Tailiev, Commander of the Poipet City Gendarmerie. The arrested suspect has been identified as Chhuon Panya, a 30-year-old male residing in Samaki Mean Chey Village, Ou Chrov Commune, Poipet City. The investigation was initiated following a complaint filed by the victim, Pa Mao, a 44-year-old resident of the same village. According to the complaint, on the night of July 31, a group of three suspects cut the electrical wires connected from the pole to Mr. Pa Mao's house, causing a power outage. Upon receiving the report, the Poipet City Gendarmerie immediately launched an investigation and identified the suspects. As a result, Chhuon Panya was apprehended, and four bundles of electrical wires, believed to be stolen, were seized. Efforts are currently underway to locate and arrest the two accomplices who are still at large, with further investigations ongoing.
