Mitch McConnell receives well wishes from Myanmar community for his health

Members of the Myanmar community have sent messages of well wishes to U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, who represents Kentucky, regarding his health condition, delivering them to his congressional office in Washington D.C. On the afternoon of July 10, Daw Si Si Thwe, wife of former NCGUB Prime Minister Dr. Sein Win, and Daw Soe Mon, a former VOA correspondent, visited the office of Senator McConnell in the U.S. Congress. They conveyed their wishes for his good health and long life, and for his continued contributions to the United States, global affairs, and Myanmar. "It was just Daw Si Si, Auntie Si Si, Dr. Sein Win's wife, and myself who went. We went to his office to deliver a message because we respect and value Mr. McConnell's consistent support for Myanmar's affairs, and he is not feeling well right now," said Daw Soe Mon, the former VOA correspondent. An official from Senator McConnell's office, a Legislative Correspondent, met with them inside the office and promised to relay the well wishes from the people of Myanmar and the Myanmar community to the Senator. "In this country, constituents have the right to meet with and communicate with their representatives. Since the VOA case, we have often gone to present our concerns to the congressmen. We went to inquire because Mr. McConnell's health is indeed very poor, and we are worried. Anyone can go and inquire or send a message through their congressional offices," said Daw Soe Mon. Senator Mitch McConnell is a U.S. congressman who has consistently supported Myanmar's democracy and human rights for many years. He has frequently stated that the United States must stand firm in its support for the democratic efforts of the people of Myanmar. McConnell has served as a Senator for Kentucky since 1985 and is recorded as one of the longest-serving senators in U.S. political history. While no official detailed statement regarding his current health condition has been confirmed by his family or office, reports indicate that he was transported from his home in Washington D.C. to a hospital in June 2026 and is receiving treatment.
