Cambodia Donates Books to Mark 111th Anniversary of Buddhist Educational Institution
A book documenting the historical evolution of the Preah Soramrit Buddhist High School, Cambodia's first Buddhist secondary educational institution, was donated to commemorate its 111th anniversary. A ceremony was held on July 13th at Wat Putum Botei Reachea Vararam in Phnom Penh to commemorate the 111th anniversary of the Preah Soramrit Buddhist High School, Cambodia's first Buddhist secondary educational institution. During the event, a book detailing the school's historical evolution was donated as a gift from Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife. Attendees included Samdech Preah Mohasomedej Kittipandit Am Limheng, the Supreme Patriarch of the Mahamakanikay sect and Chief of the National Buddhist Education Directorate, along with deputy supreme patriarchs, high-ranking monks, Minister of Cults and Religions Dr. Chhay Borin, Mam Vandy, Senior Advisor to Prime Minister Hun Sen, and his wife Oknha Tien Polla, among many other devotees and officials. Men Sam An also presented books and financial contributions, representing the generosity of Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife, to 198 monks. Additionally, offerings, including Vassa candles, were made to six pagodas and a Vipassana meditation center to support monks observing the rainy season retreat.
