Vietnam, EU Hold 7th Joint Committee Meeting, Focus on Economic Ties and Sustainability

The seventh meeting of the Joint Committee between Vietnam and the European Union (EU) was held, offering a platform for both parties to exchange information on their current socio-economic landscapes and foreign policy directions. This session served as a comprehensive review of bilateral relations and an assessment of the achievements of the Joint Committee’s subcommittees, specifically those focusing on political affairs, sustainable development, and good governance, rule of law, and human rights. Significant emphasis was placed on the tangible benefits the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) has brought to bilateral trade since its implementation. After six years, the EVFTA has demonstrably enhanced trade activities between Vietnam and the EU. The agreement has not only facilitated tariff reductions and eliminations but has also promoted stronger cooperation across a broader spectrum, including investment, services trade, and intellectual property rights protection. Vietnam is committed to fostering a high-quality economic partnership with the EU.
