Kampong Chhnang Province Holds Meeting to Review Sub-National Administrative Reports

Kampong Chhnang Province held a meeting on July 24 to review the progress reports of its sub-national administrative committees. The meeting, held at the provincial hall, was led by Deputy Governor Chim Vutha and attended by other deputy governors, heads of relevant departments, provincial hall administrators, military commanders, and district/town governors. Deputy Governor Chim Vutha stated that the meeting aimed to review, discuss, and approve the progress reports of the executive committees of districts, towns, communes, and villages across the province. He also highlighted the establishment of an organization to represent and protect the common interests of the people in these areas, aiming to improve their quality of life and well-being through decentralized and deconcentrated governance. Enhancing capacity for more efficient service delivery at the local level was also a key point. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, the government emphasizes regular dialogues with local communities to understand their concerns and gather feedback. The Deputy Governor urged officials to strengthen the role of commune/village councils and improve the delivery of public services and local development efforts effectively, irrespective of political affiliation, for the benefit of all citizens. The meeting also directed the Ministry of Agriculture and relevant authorities to monitor rice cultivation progress and intervene promptly in areas facing water shortages. The executive committees of districts, communes, and villages were recognized as crucial mechanisms for sub-national administration. In light of climate change and evolving policies, relevant ministries and institutions were encouraged to collaborate to foster local development.
