National Economics University Launches International Bachelor's Program with Australia's La Trobe University

On September 6, the National Economics University (NEU) in Hanoi held the opening ceremony for the 5th cohort of its international bachelor's program, a joint initiative with Australia's La Trobe University. The event was attended by representatives from both universities, officials from the Australian Embassy in Hanoi, and numerous related organizations. Associate Professor Bui Duc Tho, President of NEU, stated that the collaboration program, officially launched in 2022, has seen both institutions build a strong partnership based on trust, sharing, and a strong commitment to a common goal: providing Vietnamese students with access to advanced global education, harmonizing Australian knowledge, science, and technology with NEU's academic depth and prestige. Tho expressed his hope that the new students will not only acquire knowledge and skills but also cultivate resilience, nurture aspirations, and broaden their global vision. "After graduation, I am confident that you will confidently step forward, becoming skilled financial experts, talented managers, business leaders, or startup entrepreneurs with a solid foundation, ready to contribute to the nation's development and international integration," he emphasized. Victoria Warden, Minister-Counsellor for Investment and Trade at the Australian Embassy in Hanoi, affirmed that the commencement ceremony not only welcomes a new cohort of students but also serves as a testament to the strong and developing relationship between Australia and Vietnam, with education consistently being one of the most crucial pillars of bilateral cooperation. Warden noted that Australia awarded its first scholarship to Vietnamese students in 1974, just a year after diplomatic relations were established. Since then, over 130,000 Vietnamese students have studied in Australia. However, studying abroad is only one part of the broader educational cooperation. Collaborative programs like the one between NEU and La Trobe University bring Australia's high-quality education directly to Vietnamese students, offering them the opportunity to obtain internationally recognized degrees in their home country. La Trobe University possesses extensive experience in delivering world-class international education globally, while NEU is a leading university in Vietnam, making significant contributions to the country's development. This partnership reflects the openness, aspiration, and confidence of a modern Vietnam, as well as the shared commitment of both nations to investing in human capital and nurturing future talent. Warden shared with the new students that they are investing in their own futures and will be equipped with specialized knowledge, critical thinking skills, professional competencies, and a global outlook in the coming years – elements crucial for success in a rapidly changing world. More importantly, they have the opportunity to contribute to Vietnam's continued growth and success. Representing the students, new student Nguyen Doan Bao Linh expressed gratitude for the opportunity to embark on a new journey, study in a dynamic environment with ample chances to explore personal capabilities, and hone knowledge to build a strong foundation for adapting to the constant changes in living and working environments within the context of globalization and Industry 4.0. "We feel truly fortunate and immensely proud to become a member of the NEU LATROBE community," Linh stated. According to Associate Professor Ho Xuan Que, Head of the Institute of Banking and Finance at NEU and program director for NEU LATROBE, the international joint training program is built on a modern foundation, taught entirely in English by professors, associate professors, and doctors trained in advanced countries with extensive experience. Students benefit from a dynamic and friendly learning environment with modern facilities and equipment for training and research. The program serves as a "knowledge incubator," encouraging students to discover and develop their potential to conquer scientific heights. A unique feature of the program is that students can choose to complete all three years of study at NEU or study for two years at NEU and then transfer to Australia for one year. This year's admitted students demonstrate strong academic abilities and English proficiency, with some achieving IELTS 8.0, which provides a significant advantage for studying and living in an international setting.
