Vietnam, France Elevate Financial and Investment Cooperation
Vietnam and France are entering a new phase of bilateral relations, aiming to deepen cooperation across economy, science, technology, education, and culture. Enhanced financial and investment ties are seen as key to translating high-level agreements into concrete cooperation programs.
Vietnam and France are entering a new phase of their relationship, with opportunities to translate high-level orientations and agreements into concrete cooperation programmes while expanding bilateral ties in economy, science and technology, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. Vietnam and France possess a special shared legacy and strong political ties. In a rapidly changing world, the two countries have common interests in building a stronger, more autonomous relationship with a vision towards the next 20 years, said former French Ambassador to Vietnam Serge Degallaix. Dr Frederic Roustan highlighted the importance of scientific and intellectual cooperation, saying that despite ups and downs in bilateral diplomatic, political and economic relations over the decades, connections between French and Vietnamese scientists and intellectuals have been maintained, contributing to exchanges between the two countries. Vietnam could deepen cooperation with BRICS through four main areas: expanding trade and market access; attracting and promoting two-way investment; engaging deeper in global supply chains and logistics networks; and advancing cooperation in science-technology, innovation and digital transformation. The Qinghai-Dong Nai route demonstrates a new direction for international intermodal rail transport, featuring deeper connectivity with hinterlands, shorter transit times and expanded two-way operations. The provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to prepare an investment proposal for upgrading and expanding the Con Co storm shelter in Con Co special zone. The project has a total investment of 400 billion VND (15.4 million USD) and is scheduled to be implemented from 2026 to 2028. To reach 9.5–10 billion USD, the most important thing is to strictly comply with market requirements, according to an insider.
