South Korea's Jeonbuk National University Seeks More Cambodian Students in Advanced Tech and Agriculture

Jeonbuk National University (JNU) in the Republic of Korea has expressed its aspiration to see a greater number of Cambodian students pursue specialized studies in key fields such as semi-conductors, physical Artificial Intelligence (AI), and agriculture. These areas are identified as having high demand for Cambodia's current and future economic development. The aspiration was conveyed during a working meeting between H.E. Khoun Phonrattana, Cambodian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, and Dr. O-Bong Yang, President of Jeonbuk National University, held on September 7, 2026, at the university campus in Jeonbuk Province. Jeonbuk National University is ranked third among national universities in Korea and is the educational institution with the largest number of Cambodian students studying in the country. During the occasion, the Ambassador also met and interacted with approximately 70 Cambodian students studying at JNU. He encouraged them to diligently study both the Korean language and their specialized fields, and to prepare themselves to select subjects like Semi-conductor and Physical AI for capacity building, with the aim of contributing to nation-building upon their return to Cambodia in the future.
