777 online scam perpetrators arrested in Myawaddy

In Myawaddy, Kayan State, a total of 777 individuals, including 620 Chinese male nationals and 11 female nationals, 3 Thai female nationals, and 32 Myanmar male nationals and 111 female nationals, were arrested on July 25 along with items used in online fraud and gambling, according to reports. In order to carry out these operations and arrests, military columns began preparations and organization in Lekekaw from July 6, and after engaging in battles with KNLA and PDF groups, who were providing protection for a fee to perpetrators of online fraud and gambling, arrests were made on July 9, July 12, July 16, July 21, and July 25. It is reported that during the battles, 13 bodies, nine assorted weapons, ammunition, strongly built concrete bunkers, residential tents, and related equipment were seized from the KNLA and PDF joint forces. Those arrested for online fraud and gambling will be dealt with effectively in accordance with existing laws after the necessary investigations are completed, and the seized operational equipment will also be processed according to procedures, it has been announced.
