Cambodia Discusses Natural Tourism Development Project Around Tasal Reservoir

Phnom Penh, Cambodia – September 10, 2026 – H.E. Ouk Vuthy, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, led a technical working group from the ministry to meet with the Kampong Speu provincial administration, headed by H.E. Touch Poliva, Deputy Governor of Kampong Speu Province, at the provincial hall. The meeting was convened to examine and consult on a proposal from a private company to lease land at the Tasal Reservoir, located in Ou Chea village, Tasal commune, Oral district, Kampong Speu province, for the development of a natural tourism resort and ecotourism project. Representatives from relevant ministries, the Oral district administration, and the private company also attended. H.E. Ouk Vuthy emphasized that promoting domestic tourism is a strategic objective of the government, linking it to nature, beliefs, and history, with water resources playing a crucial role. He stated that all development must be implemented in accordance with current laws. The investment project at Tasal Reservoir is expected to create interconnections with existing tourist destinations in Oral district, such as Phnom Khnong Sar Mountain and Te Teuk Pou, thereby attracting more tourists. As a result, the entire meeting expressed support and welcomed the natural tourism resort development project. Concurrently, the meeting requested that the company prepare a clear and detailed master plan for the resort, strictly adhering to all applicable laws and regulations before commencing the project.
