Detained forced conscripts escape past drunk junta guards in Sagaing

Twenty young men abducted and detained by the junta at a high school in Ye-U escaped on Wednesday after being held for several months. They were kidnapped in Ye-U town in October last year as part of the military regime's campaign to forcibly conscript young men. They were then taken to a Tamadaw (military) school in Ye-U, where they were held for several months. One of the escapees said that the plan to escape had been in the making for several weeks. They managed to escape through a back entrance of the school while the guards were drunk and asleep. After their escape, they hid in a nearby village and later contacted anti-regime forces. They are currently said to be in a safe location.
