Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway Set for September Opening
Vietnam's Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway is in its final stages, aiming for an opening within September. The Ministry of Construction has instructed the swift completion of remaining sections and safety inspections. Upon completion, the expressway is expected to significantly improve access between the Mekong Delta, Ho Chi Minh City, and Long Thanh Airport, boosting logistics and economic activity.
The Ministry of Construction has instructed that the entire Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway be opened within September. The expressway has currently completed over 99% of its construction volume, with only the remaining parts of Phuoc Khanh bridge and the intersection with National Highway 51 yet to be finished. During a site inspection on September 5, Deputy Minister of Construction Pham Minh Ha urged the investor and contractors to maximize human and equipment resources to complete the remaining tasks. He also directed the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) to finalize documentation and inspection procedures for the State Council for Acceptance of Construction Works to conduct its inspection within September, paving the way for the full opening of the entire route. For Phuoc Khanh and Binh Khanh bridges, continuous monitoring and the implementation of necessary technical solutions were emphasized to ensure safety before their use. The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, spanning 57.8 km, is a crucial infrastructure connecting the Mekong Delta region with eastern Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province. Upon completion, it will link with the Ho Chi Minh - Trung Luong Expressway, Ho Chi Minh - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, and National Highway 51. This is expected to significantly shorten travel times from the Mekong Delta to Dong Nai province, the former Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, and Long Thanh International Airport. Currently, approximately 30 km of the route is temporarily open. The opening of this expressway is anticipated to greatly contribute to the efficiency of logistics and the promotion of economic growth in southern Vietnam. In particular, it has the potential to boost industrial development in the entire region in conjunction with the construction of Long Thanh International Airport.
