The accused, Leng Nat, a 42-year-old fisherman residing in Kosei village, Kousneng commune, Bori Ousvay Sen Chey district, is facing charges of illegal trafficking, possession, and transportation of narcotics under Article 40 of the Law on Drug Control. He faces potential life imprisonment if found guilty. According to local authorities, Nat was apprehended on July 3rd during an operation by law enforcement to crack down on a drug trafficking ring. Approximately 3 kilograms of methamphetamine, a type of stimulant, were seized from his possession. Nat confessed that the seized drugs were stolen from a boat belonging to the drug ring, which had been abandoned on the Mekong River while authorities were conducting their raid. This incident is linked to a large-scale anti-drug trafficking operation that took place on the night of June 30th. During that operation, authorities located two drug-carrying boats. The suspects fled, leaving behind the boats and some of the illicit substances. Initially, approximately 37.7 kilograms of drugs were seized in that operation.
