Energy Ministry Demands Responsibility from BPT-BFPL for Rama 3 Oil Pipeline Leak

The Ministry of Energy in Thailand has decided to pursue accountability from Bangkok Pipeline Transport Co., Ltd. (BPT) and Bangkok Fuel Pipeline Logistics Co., Ltd. (BFPL), the operators of the oil pipeline, following the discovery of a leak on Rama 3 Road in Bangkok. The leak was identified along the pipeline on Rama 3 Road, raising concerns about environmental impact and potential risks to surrounding areas. The Ministry of Energy is demanding that BPT and BFPL clarify responsibility, address the issue appropriately, determine the cause of the accident, recover and treat the leaked oil, and formulate measures to prevent recurrence. Currently, a detailed investigation by relevant authorities is underway to identify the exact cause of the accident, the volume of the leak, and the extent of its environmental impact. Based on the investigation's findings, specific measures are expected to be taken against BPT and BFPL. In Thailand, aging infrastructure and inadequate management systems in urban areas have occasionally led to accidents. This incident highlights the importance of infrastructure management once again.
