Sara Duterte Refused PNP Security Offer, Says Remulla

The Philippine National Police (PNP) had offered security to Vice President Sara Duterte through its Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG), but the Vice President refused the offer, Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla disclosed during a press briefing at Camp Crame on Monday. "Kung wala siyang tiwala, that is her prerogative," Remulla said, indicating respect for the Vice President's decision. The PSPG is an office under the PNP responsible for providing protective security services to government officials. Previously, the Palace had assured that the police would not harm Vice President Duterte. This development raises questions about the political dynamics and the Vice President's relationship with security agencies, given her significant political influence as the daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
