Dong Khanh Restaurant Launches New Mooncake Collection for 2026
Dong Khanh Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City has launched its 2026 mooncake collection, 'Thưởng vị tinh hoa từ di sản,' celebrating 75 years of tradition. The new collection blends time-honored flavors with modern designs inspired by Cholon's architecture.
Dong Khanh Restaurant, a brand under Saigontourist Group with a 75-year legacy, has officially launched its 2026 mooncake collection, themed 'Thưởng vị tinh hoa từ di sản' (Savoring the Essence of Heritage). This collection aims to build upon the brand's rich history. Established in 1951, Dong Khanh's mooncakes have preserved their original flavors for over seven decades. Cao Văn Chóng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Director of Saigontourist Group, highlighted that Dong Khanh mooncakes are among the oldest and most renowned brands in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam. This year, Saigontourist Group, in collaboration with Dong Khanh Hotel and partners, has revitalized this heritage. Phan Phúc Sơn, Deputy Director of Dong Khanh Hotel, described the 2026 collection as an "artistic renovation" by the hotel's creative team, drawing inspiration from the architectural landmarks of the Cholon area. Iconic structures such as Binh Tay Market, the Central Post Office of Cholon, Thien Hau Pagoda, and the renowned "Cay Mai" ceramic reliefs, once a symbol of Cholon, have been incorporated into the mooncake designs. The collection marries 75 years of core quality with the strategic vision of Saigontourist Group, embodying the cultural essence of old Saigon-Cholon and modern Ho Chi Minh City. The mooncakes feature a new look, representing a fusion of traditional identity and contemporary art. Inside, classic fillings like green bean, mixed nuts, roasted chicken, and shark fin, alongside salted egg yolks, are encased in thin, golden-brown pastry. Nguyễn Hồng Minh, head chef of Dong Khanh Restaurant and inheritor of the craft from his father, artisan Nguyễn Văn Thê, expressed confidence in the restaurant's mooncake products, particularly the mixed nut variety, which uses unique ingredients. He emphasized that food safety and the clear origin of ingredients are top priorities. The 'Thưởng vị tinh hoa từ di sản' collection comprises five gift box sets: 'Thượng đài nguyệt quang' and 'Khúc nguyệt quang' (6-cake boxes), 'Ngọc thố hòa điệu' and 'Dệt vị đoàn viên' (4-cake boxes), and 'Dạ nguyệt vạn hoa' (2-cake box). "Each Dong Khanh mooncake box gifted will be a message of gratitude, familial affection, and well wishes for a joyful reunion moon festival," stated Phan Phúc Sơn. Cao Văn Chóng added, "We received enthusiastic support from consumers at the launch event. We will continue to promote and enhance the quality of the brand." To rebrand and elevate the Dong Khanh mooncake image, T Production, a media and entertainment company, provided consultancy on production, brand strategy development, and communication. Director and producer Trần Thành Trung, founder of T Production, shared his personal fondness for Dong Khanh's authentic traditional flavors and his desire to convey a cultural narrative through this year's collection. Content creators Hỷ Khí Dương Dương, Mỹ Thiên from Chợ Lớn Downtown, and Ko Sợ Mặp shared their personal connections to Dong Khanh mooncakes, their childhood memories in Cholon, and their excitement for the brand's fresh image in 2026. A representative from T Production stated, "Dong Khanh mooncakes aspire to become a symbol of culinary heritage not just for Ho Chi Minh City, but for Vietnam as a whole." Currently, Dong Khanh's mooncakes are distributed to various customer segments, including individuals, corporations, and businesses seeking gifts for clients, partners, and employees. The restaurant offers reasonable pricing across different segments and professional customer service to ensure maximum convenience. Information Source: VnExpress
