Vietnam Intensifies Commemorative Activities for War Invalids and Contributors

Vietnam is rolling out nationwide activities to commemorate war invalids and contributors and their families, ahead of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day on July 27. In Ho Chi Minh City, Delegation No. 21, led by Major General Trần Thanh Đức (Deputy Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Command and Commander of the City Border Guard Command), visited policy beneficiary families and national contributors in the locality, presenting them with gifts. This initiative underscores gratitude for their sacrifices and contributions to nation-building. A film week dedicated to commemorating War Invalids and Martyrs' Day is also scheduled, serving as an opportunity to enhance national patriotism and share memories of past struggles. The Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs has mobilized nearly 20 billion VND (approximately USD 800,000) in the first six months of the year for tribute activities, indicating active public support. Furthermore, the Central Committee has approved regulations and a plan for organizing commemorative activities for the 80th anniversary, reflecting a long-term commitment to honoring and showing respect to contributors. These activities are a crucial element in strengthening national unity and fostering patriotism under Vietnam's one-party system. Amidst continuous economic growth, preserving the memory of past struggles and cultivating loyalty to the nation are essential for maintaining the foundation of social stability and development. Given Vietnam's complex relationship with China, these efforts can also be seen as a means to bolster domestic cohesion.
