Mondulkiri Court Charges Seven Youths for Assault

The Mondulkiri Provincial Prosecutor's Office announced on July 19, 2026, that seven youths have been charged with intentional assault for their involvement in a violent incident that left another young man with serious injuries. The incident occurred on July 16, 2026, in Riya Village, Riya Commune, Koh Nhek District, Mondulkiri Province. According to the announcement, a group of suspects on motorcycles, armed with knives and axes, pursued and attacked a young man identified as Ri Rotana, causing severe injuries to his right leg. The victim was immediately transported to the hospital for emergency treatment. The seven accused individuals are identified as Thorn Tevan, Khan Pak, Don Vin, Thorn Teva, Ron Rida, Kompa Lida, and Lit Phaktra. Following the incident, the Koh Nhek District Police Inspectorate launched an investigation and apprehended five suspects for questioning. After reviewing the investigation report, evidence, and the confessions of the suspects, the Provincial Prosecutor's Office decided to charge all seven individuals with intentional assault under aggravating circumstances, as stipulated in Article 218, Point 2 of the Penal Code. The case has caused shock and concern among local residents, who have expressed their support for the measures taken by the authorities.
