Cambodia Discusses Supply Chain Strengthening and Industrial Modernization in Public-Private Dialogue

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) participated and provided consolidated feedback at the 3rd Public-Private Business Breakfast Meeting, organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (CCCC). The event focused on strengthening Cambodia's supply chain foundations and promoting industrial modernization. Presided over by H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the CDC, the meeting took place on the morning of Thursday, August 6, 2026. The dialogue aimed to enhance cooperation between government institutions and the private sector under the theme 'Strengthening Supply Chain Foundations: Promoting Cambodia's Industrial Transformation.' Attendees included ministers and delegates from various government ministries such as the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Ministry of Mines and Energy, Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, as well as representatives from the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia. Diplomatic representatives from the Chinese Embassy's Economic and Commercial Counsellor's Office, the EU Delegation's Cooperation Section, the U.S. Embassy's Political and Economic Section, the Japanese Embassy's Chargé d'Affaires a.i., and the Second Secretary of the Korean Embassy were also present. Leading international business associations and chambers of commerce, including the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham), the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (CCCC), the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Cambodia (KOCHAM), and the Japanese Business Association of Cambodia (JBAC), also sent their representatives. This broad participation underscored the close, open, and trusting collaboration between the international business and investment community and the Cambodian government. In his concluding remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol reiterated the government's firm commitment, particularly from the CDC, to internal reforms aimed at improving the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of its core functions. These include enhancing and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) by promoting Cambodia's investment potential and opportunities, providing comprehensive investment facilitation from application to smooth operational startup, and offering close investment maintenance and support services to ensure long-term investor confidence and success. Furthermore, the Deputy Prime Minister encouraged the private sector to work closely with the Cambodian government to prepare for and transition towards concentrating investments in industries that form the origin of production chains and offer high added value. He also called for more active and closer communication mechanisms between the public and private sectors to jointly build new achievements and success stories in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
