Angkor Wat Revenue Dips, Tourist Numbers Fall; Cambodia Seeks Revival

Revenue from the Angkor Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Cambodia, has reached approximately $20.3 million in the first seven months of 2026. During the same period, the number of foreign tourists visiting the site was only 428,223. The Angkor Enterprise reported that revenue from ticket sales to foreign tourists has decreased by approximately 29%, while the number of foreign tourists has dropped by nearly 31%. The Angkor Archaeological Park, spanning 401 square kilometers in northwestern Siem Reap province, is a major tourist destination for Cambodia, featuring 91 ancient temples built between the 9th and 13th centuries. To boost both foreign and domestic tourist numbers, the Ministry of Tourism and Siem Reap province are currently implementing promotional campaigns.
