Siem Reap and Preah Vihear Provinces Sign Agreement to Adjust Administrative Boundaries

The provincial administrations of Siem Reap and Preah Vihear in Cambodia have signed an agreement to adjust the administrative boundaries between the two provinces. The signing ceremony took place on September 14, 2026, at the Siem Reap Provincial Hall. This adjustment is in line with the directive from the Ministry of Interior, dated August 12, 2026, which mandates the resolution of administrative boundary issues for all capital cities, provinces, districts, and communes by November 30, 2026. Mr. Prak Sokhon, Governor of Siem Reap Province, expressed great pleasure with the successful collaboration and resolution of the administrative boundary issues between Siem Reap and Preah Vihear provinces, stating it aligns with the Ministry of Interior's guidance. He noted that Preah Vihear is the fourth province after Kampong Thom, Banteay Meanchey, and Oddar Meanchey where the provincial administration has successfully resolved boundary issues. Concurrently, Mr. Kim Rithy, Governor of Preah Vihear Province, emphasized that the cooperation leading to this agreement and the request for boundary adjustment serves as clear evidence of the active and close collaboration between the two provincial administrations in responding to various challenges. Governor Kim Rithy further stated that issues such as border disputes, illegal crossings, and unauthorized timber transportation remain frequent disorderly activities. Therefore, he urged the competent authorities and the administrations of both provinces to strengthen communication and timely information exchange to effectively prevent and suppress criminal activities. On this occasion, the governors also appealed for continued maintenance of relations and further strengthening of close cooperation between the two provincial administrations, from the district level to the provincial level.
