The organizers of the ceremony stated that it was held in remembrance of the heroic martyrs who fought and fell for democracy in successive eras, including Ko Jimmy, Ko Phyo Zeyar Thaw, Ko Hla Myo Aung, and Ko Aung Thu Ya Zaw. At the ceremony, the Sagaing Federal Unit Interim Government, the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament, and 88 Generation Students' leader U Min Ko Naing, Dr. Thet Zar San, and Dr. Phyo Thiha also gave commemorative speeches and paid tribute. The Deputy Prime Minister of the Sagaing Federal Unit Interim Government said at the ceremony that they deeply honored the heroic comrades who were tortured and died unknown, in addition to Ko Jimmy and Ko Phyo Zeyar Thaw. Nyein Chan Hlaing, the wife of Ko Jimmy (alias Ko Kyaw Min Yu) and a former political prisoner, also sent a commemorative message. Furthermore, there was a program of reciting commemorative poems, including a poem by the late poet K. Zaw Win. Dr. Thet Zar San stated that the end of the authoritarian system is a common responsibility, and the establishment of a federal democratic system is a common goal, and that they will reach it despite the difficult journey. "I believe that the coup experienced in this country will be the last for our generation," he said. In addition, those who gave commemorative speeches also paid tribute to the heroes who fell in the incident on 44th Street, Yangon, choosing the path of death by bravely jumping from a high-rise building rather than falling under the military dictatorship. Ko Jimmy, Ko Phyo Zeyar Thaw, Ko Hla Myo Aung, and Ko Aung Thu Ya Zaw, who were arrested and detained on July 23, 2022, were hanged by the coup military. On July 23, 2026, it will be exactly four years. Editor: Naung Naung
