The National Unity Government (NUG) People’s Defence Force Naypyidaw Command announced that over 40 junta soldiers including 4 officers had died due to their military operations in June. In Minbu (Saku) Township of Magway Region, the PDF seized the junta’s U-Yin Bridge Inspection Gate on June 28. In Tilin Township of Magway Federal Unit, Township People’s Administration provided training on local administration capacity building (1/2026). At 10:00 am Thursday, the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration conducted a meeting (17/2026). On Friday, (191) domestic, regional and international organizations sent an open letter to the United Nations General Assembly, calling to reject the junta’s election, not to recognize the junta’s administrative mechanism under the pretence of civilian government, and to provide more support to the NUG, ethnic revolutionary forces and civil society organizations. The NUG gave instructions for a thorough investigation into the raid in which 5 comrades of Monywa Township People’s Security Force including their focal person Ko Arku and three people had lost their lives. In Hsin Paungwe Township of Magway Region, there were attacks on the junta gates. Reportedly, 13 junta soldiers died, one other was caught alive and a weapon was confiscated. Revolution Activities In Pauk Township of Magway Region, the junta army has been invading the area. Consequently, over 10,000 people from 16 local villages have been displaced and they are in urgent need of food. Human Rights Watch urged the Japanese government to reject any development aid requests from the Myanmar military junta. In recent months, the military junta has increased their monitoring of social media platforms and been pursuing people who have put up posts that they do not like. In Norway, Telenor telecommunication company is facing a lawsuit under allegations of passing personal information of phone users to the military junta following the coup in February 2021. Reportedly, debates on human rights and corporate accountability are on the rise again. Dawei National Liberation Army held an event commemorating Martyrs’ Day at Bahtoo Camp for the first time. Myanmar Lawyers Council declared the military junta’s destruction of General Aung San statues a major crime. In Shwebo Township of Sagaing Region, Local Strike Group provided support to the displaced people in need. In Hommalin Township of Sagaing Region, teachers and students conducted a movement, holding signs – ‘Unity is the most powerful weapon’. In Natmauk Township of Magway Region, the PDF announced that they had assassinated a woman for working as an informant for the military junta. Regarding it, her family members called for evidence. Kim Aris, son of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, expressed thanks to the Communist Party of China (CPC) for their best wishes on her 81st birthday. According to a family member of a victim, about 700 Indian citizens have been detained and exploited at a scam center on the Myanmar side of the Thailand-Myanmar border. They also called on the Indian government to help rescue the victims quickly. Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) In Maungdaw Township of Rakhine State, the junta army conducted a severe airstrike on the detention camp where prisoners of war were kept, near Kyaing Chaung Village. Reportedly, 4 detainees including a junta captain died on the spot. Two weeks after the junta army had bombed the areas under New Mon State Party, the Vice-Chair of NMSP Naing Aung Min met with the junta’s delegation in Naypyidaw. Reportedly, he called to build peace with goodwill, political desire and patience, and to relieve restrictions. The Military Junta The junta police have been investigating the case in which Dr. Nyan Phay or U Pyinnya Wuntha, a former counsellor to successive military dictators, was murdered. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko told the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing it is time to start a “new stage” in bilateral relations. During a state visit to Laos, the junta leader and his wife visited Vientiane’s Lao Textile Museum. The junta’s People’s Military Service Training Batch 24 concluded on Friday. The junta’s National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) met with New Mon State Party in Naypyidaw on Thursday. Reportedly, they discussed politics, education, healthcare and local development. The Belarusian President and the junta leader exchanged views on the plans to further strengthen friendly ties and relations between the two countries, the implementation of the joint action plans for 2026-28, enhancement of economic cooperation and investment between the two countries, promotion of cooperation in industrial, agricultural, pharmaceutical, humanitarian and other sectors, and the boosting of friendly relations and cooperation in all sectors between the two countries.
