PM arrives in New Delhi, beginning India trip for BRICS Summit, bilateral activities

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and a high-level Vietnamese delegation arrived in New Delhi on September 12, beginning their participation in the 18th BRICS Summit as a partner country and bilateral engagements in India from September 12–13, at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Vietnam's participation in the 18th BRICS Summit in India reflects its consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, peace, friendship, cooperation and development; multilateralisation and diversification of external relations; and proactive, active, comprehensive, extensive and effective international integration. Vietnam has demonstrated robust growth capacity, extensive integration and a foreign policy of independence. As a result, Vietnam can contribute to BRICS on multiple issues as a partner country, while BRICS members can draw lessons from Vietnam’s experience in development, integration and supply chain connectivity. Vietnam is an important country with significant potential to contribute to BRICS’ development. Over the past year, it has emerged as an increasingly important economy and a notable manufacturing hub, particularly in textiles and garments, electronics and other industries. The Vietnamese delegation's attendance at the BRICS Summit provides a platform to engage with member states and partners, discuss global and regional governance, especially economic and development issues tied to emerging and developing economies, and identify directions and solutions. This supports Vietnam’s shift from "engaging in rule-making to contributing to shaping rules," enhancing its voice in international frameworks, rules, and standards, and cementing its global standing.
