Cambodian Officials, China Hail Success of Global South Media Workshop
Cambodian Ministry of Information officials lauded a 14-day media workshop in China for Global South participants. The program focused on enhancing media technology and cooperation, sharing insights into China's media modernization and AI applications.
Cambodian Ministry of Information officials and their Chinese counterparts have highly praised the fruitful outcomes of a media workshop for participants from Global South countries. The 14-day workshop, held in the People's Republic of China, successfully concluded on July 6th, achieving remarkable results in enhancing media technology capabilities and strengthening cooperation. He Dongbo, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of CBIC, stated that the 14-day period served as a crucial learning opportunity to deeply understand the modernization of Chinese media. Participants in Beijing studied the factors behind China's development. In Yinchuan, they visited the Baijitan National Park, showcasing ecological wonders with the slogan "Man does not betray the green mountains, and the green mountains do not betray man," and witnessed the success of poverty alleviation in Nanning. Furthermore, participants explored technology-driven industrial development at companies like Zhuse Technology and Lingji Digital Technology, and engaged in in-depth discussions on media development at Ningxia Television. Participants reached a consensus that in the context of global changes, media professionals from Global South countries share a collective responsibility to break the monopoly of Western narratives and jointly build a more just and colorful media order. He Dongbo emphasized that while the training has concluded, friendship and cooperation will continue, with CBIC committed to promoting cultural exchange and media cooperation between China and foreign countries. Chhun Chanphiroun, Deputy Director-General of the General Department of Information and Audiovisual of the Ministry of Information, representing the Cambodian participants, expressed his profound gratitude to the Chinese government and organizing committee for the valuable opportunity and warm hospitality. He highlighted that the workshop provided knowledge and experience beyond expectations, particularly in understanding the rapid development of China's media industry, including digital systems, artificial intelligence (AI), and professional media management. Beyond the classroom, the delegation visited key sites, including ZOOXER TECH to learn about advanced AI-powered autonomous camera technology, and Beijing Langyuan Station to observe the transformation of a former textile warehouse into a modern AIGC center. They also visited the Great Wall and the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region to understand China's rich civilization, culture, and historical heritage. He Dongbo expressed strong hope that the knowledge and experience gained from the workshop will be applied by all participants in their respective institutions to modernize media operations, promote more effective and responsible information dissemination, and further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between China and the Global South countries.
