The Vietnamese government is strengthening efforts to resolve challenges and support the development of the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE). On September 3rd, a government delegation visited ICISE in Quy Nhon city, holding discussions with Professor Tran Thanh Van, Chairman of the "Meet Vietnam" Association, and ICISE leadership. The meeting aimed to discuss proposals and remove obstacles to further develop ICISE as Vietnam's international scientific research hub. Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong emphasized the importance of close coordination among agencies. Professor Tran Thanh Van presented proposals focusing on operational mechanisms, financial resources, facility investment, and long-term development directions. He stressed that state trust in scientists is crucial for fostering their motivation, creativity, and contributions to national development, viewing science as a shared societal responsibility. Key discussions included recommendations on bank deposit interest rates to ensure stable financial resources for ICISE's research activities. Mechanisms for managing and utilizing non-refundable aid from international organizations were also debated to ensure transparency, efficiency, and legal compliance. The "Quy Nhon Dialogue" on climate change and transition was highlighted as an initiative to position Vietnam as a venue for global scientific discussions on climate change. Significant attention was given to the plan for a shared laboratory at ICISE, envisioned as a modern research infrastructure serving various domestic and international research groups and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. The government expressed deep interest in ICISE, pledging to support its international reputation. This meeting opens a long-term vision for ICISE to become a hub for knowledge sharing, collaborative research, and inspiration for the youth among scientists from Vietnam and abroad. It reaffirms Vietnam's strong commitment to the international community in promoting science, technology, and innovation for sustainable development. Source: Nhan Dan
