DICT eGov Hackathon: 46 teams advance in push for digital governance

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 46 teams have advanced to the next stage of the inaugural eGov Hackathon hosted on July 21 and 22 by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). The hackathon, formally opened by the first lady, Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos, underscored “the administration’s support for technology-driven governance and citizen-centered public service delivery.” According to DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy, the initiative is a testament to the government’s commitment to embracing technological advancements for more efficient and accessible public services. “This hackathon is more than just a competition; it’s a catalyst for innovation that will help us build a more responsive and citizen-centric government,” Uy stated during the opening ceremony. The eGov Hackathon aims to foster a culture of innovation within the public sector, encouraging government employees and tech enthusiasts to develop digital solutions that can address various public service challenges.
