Vinh Long University of Technology and Education Commences New Academic Year, Set for Rebranding

Vinh Long University of Technology and Education held its opening ceremony for the 2026-2027 academic year on September 5, welcoming over 3,000 new undergraduate students. This marks a new chapter for the institution in training high-quality human resources for the Mekong Delta region and the entire country. In the past academic year, the university achieved significant results, completing its institutional quality accreditation and having 17 training programs meet national and international standards. The faculty has grown to 467 members, including 23 professors and associate professors, and 216 PhD holders. Last year, 1,717 individuals graduated, comprising 56 master's degree holders, 1,611 regular undergraduate students, and 50 part-time undergraduate students. Among them, 78 achieved excellent grades, 243 good grades, and 802 satisfactory grades. Notably, the opening ceremony took place amidst the Ministry of Education and Training's approval of the university's rebranding to Vinh Long University of Technology, as part of the higher education network planning. This strategic transformation aims to develop the university into a multidisciplinary institution with technology and engineering as its core, while maintaining its role as a nucleus for training teachers and lecturers in vocational education. Digital transformation continues to be identified as a crucial foundation for enhancing management efficiency and training quality. The university is actively promoting the application of digital technology and artificial intelligence in management, teaching, assessment of learning outcomes, and scientific research. This year, the university invested over 1.2 trillion VND to upgrade server systems, internet infrastructure, management software, and equipment for data digitalization. Concurrently, facilities for research and training continue to receive investment. The Science Research and Technology Transfer Center project, a 9-story building with approximately 15,366 square meters of floor space and a total investment of 185 billion VND, is underway. It aims to provide a modern space for scientific research, technology transfer, and high-quality human resource training. The university has also received approval from the Ministry of Education and Training for the construction of an 11-story lecture hall building, with an estimated cost of over 300.7 billion VND. Additionally, modern equipment from the SKIEG Project, with a total budget of around 97 billion VND, has been deployed for training and research in mechanical engineering and electrical-electronic engineering.
