Smooth Transportation : MOC Union Minister inspects roads and bridges

On Friday, Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant accompanied by concerned officials inspected the ongoing construction process of a new 900 ft long outbound bridge near milepost 165/1 on Nay Pyi Taw - Yangon Road section of Yangon-Mandalay Expressway. Due to devastating Mandalay Earthquake, both inbound and outbound Swa Creek Bridges were destroyed. The newly constructed inbound bridge was already opened in May, 2026. At the briefing hall, the Union Minister heard reports on current tasks which were separately carried out by Special Bridge Task Forces 6 and 10 on Mandalay and Yangon sections, arrangements to install Elastomeric bearings, bored pile drilling process and further work plans. Upon reports, the Union Minister instructed on systematic renovation of earthquake damaged roads and bridges in accordance with the prescribed characteristics. He also called for preventive measures against potential water level rises during the rainy season, the installation of improved drainage systems, and the implementation of greening initiatives along the expressway. Following this, the Union Minister and party inspected the construction site and coordinated requirements. During the inspection along the inbound bridge, the Union Minister and party overviewed solar lamp posts and gave necessary instructions on strict monitoring of water channel flow. They also inspected ongoing renovation processes along Yangon-Mandalay Expressway.
