MANILA, Philippines — The Social Security System (SSS) has significantly increased its stake in Century Properties Group Inc. (CPG), a leading local property developer. The state pension fund's ownership interest in CPG has risen to approximately 9.9 percent, up from about 6.4 percent previously. In a disclosure to the local bourse on Wednesday, the real estate firm said the state-run pension fund increased its ownership interest in the company to about 9.9 percent, from approximately 6.4 percent previously. According to the company, the additional investment highlights the SSS’s confidence in CPG’s business fundamentals, corporate governance, growth strategy and shareholder return profile. The company also said the move affirms investor confidence in its “twin-engine” strategy, which combines PHirst, its affordable first-home platform, with CPG’s premium residential developments. “We are deeply honored by SSS’s continued confidence in CPG,” CPG president and CEO Marco Antonio said. Antonio said the additional investment recognizes the company’s long-term strategy and commitment to delivering sustainable value to shareholders. The CEO added that CPG would continue focusing on the end-user market, a strategy that allows the company to maintain a steady and healthy stream of dividends while keeping its debt profile at moderate levels.
