Justice Minister Urges Judicial Officers to Expedite Case Resolution, Prevent Backlogs

Minister of Justice, Mr. Keth Rith, reiterated his call for judicial officers to continue their campaign to expedite case resolution and prevent litigation backlogs. This directive was given during the official inauguration ceremony of the new building of the Kep Provincial Court and the Kep Provincial Court Prosecutor's Office. The Minister urged judges, prosecutors, court clerks, bailiffs, and court administrative staff to diligently serve the citizens with better justice services, aiming to enhance the quality and efficiency of justice delivery. He emphasized that this is a crucial part of the judicial reform efforts. Furthermore, Mr. Keth Rith stressed the importance of judicial officers adhering to ethical codes and meticulously handling cases strictly, fairly, and in accordance with current laws and procedures. He encouraged them to exercise their authority and discretion with high responsibility, upholding the noble ideal of justice in seeking fairness for the people. On the same platform, the Minister highlighted the government's reform direction for the justice system, focusing on reforming dispute resolution both within and outside the court system. He stated that the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Council of Magistracy will continue to promote the implementation of the principle of meritocracy in the justice sector. He also encouraged all judges to facilitate mediation and reconciliation to resolve disputes between parties, where permitted by law. The inauguration of the new Kep Provincial Court building coincided with the 5th anniversary of its official operation and the promulgation day of the Constitution of Cambodia, the supreme law of the land. The Minister affirmed that the continued development of infrastructure in provincial and capital courts and prosecutor's offices is essential to meet the growing demands of justice services for citizens, given the steady increase in case numbers and staff.
