No storm moving towards Myanmar, Meteorological Department announces

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology announced that the tropical storm that formed off the coast of northern Odisha and West Bengal in India is currently at a yellow alert level as there are no signs of it moving towards Myanmar. The strong low-pressure system associated with the northwest Bay of Bengal, which formed off the coast of northern Odisha and West Bengal in India, has intensified and become a tropical storm. This tropical storm is expected to intensify into a severe tropical storm within the next 24 hours and cross the coast of northern Odisha and West Bengal in India between Paradip Port and Sagar Island within the next 36 hours. Due to the intensity of the tropical storm, heavy rainfall, strong winds, flash floods, and landslides are likely to occur. Therefore, residents living in elevated areas are advised to be aware of the risk of landslides, those living near small rivers and streams are advised to be cautious of floods and flash floods, and coastal and offshore fishing vessels and ships in domestic flights, estuaries, along the Rakhine coast, and offshore waters are also advised to take precautions in advance.
