Quang Ninh Border Guards Seize Nearly 300kg of Frozen Pork Innards of Unknown Origin

In Vietnam's northern Quang Ninh province, border guards have seized approximately 300kg of frozen pork innards being illegally transported without clear origin. The incident underscores the critical importance of food safety regulations and anti-smuggling efforts within Vietnam. The operation took place around 6:45 AM on September 9th, along National Highway 18C, at kilometer marker 82-200m, in Bac Phong Sinh village, Quang Duc commune. A patrol unit from the Quang Duc Border Guard Post detected a suspicious 5-seater car (license plate: 14K-020.06) traveling from the Bac Phong Sinh border gate towards Quang Duc commune. The unit signaled the vehicle to stop for inspection. During the inspection, the driver was identified as Pham Van Dat, born in 1996, a resident of Bac Phong Sinh village, Quang Duc commune, and the owner of the vehicle. The car was carrying six blue jute sacks, each containing a styrofoam box filled with frozen pork innards. The total weight of the seized goods was approximately 300kg. At the time of the inspection, Pham Van Dat was unable to produce any documentation, invoices, or certificates to prove the legal origin of the transported goods. The Quang Duc Border Guard Post is currently completing the necessary paperwork to investigate and process the case in accordance with the law. Vietnam's rapid economic growth has led to increased domestic consumption and international trade. However, combating counterfeit goods and illegally distributed food products remains a pressing challenge for public health and safety. Smuggling, particularly in border areas, poses risks not only to food safety but also to national economic security, prompting authorities to enhance surveillance. This seizure is part of ongoing enforcement operations.
