Runners Donate Clean Water for Children in Remote Indonesia

The trend of a healthy lifestyle has evolved beyond personal fitness to become a platform for spreading kindness, as exemplified by the successful Run & Rise 2026 charity run event held at Pulau Satu, Senayan Park (SPARK), Jakarta, on Sunday, August 30, 2026. With the spirit of "Brighter Future for Children," the event attracted over 1,200 participants from diverse backgrounds. Beyond completing the race routes, runners united under a social mission: to help provide access to clean water for children in remote areas of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), and South Sulawesi. Initiated by the humanitarian foundation Gugah Nurani Indonesia (GNI) in collaboration with SalingJaga from Kitabisa, the event featured three categories: Kid Dash 1K, Fun Run 5K, and 10K. A cheerful and energetic atmosphere permeated the capital city from the morning, blending the spirit of sports, entertainment, and social concern. Fransisca Sianturi, Executive Director of Gugah Nurani Indonesia, stated that the event, now in its third year, aims to bridge the concern of urban communities towards the challenges faced by residents in remote areas. "If in urban areas we can get water easily just by opening the tap, people in remote areas still have to walk a long way carrying jugs. Therefore, the presence of this activity aims to provide adequate clean water facilities, bring water sources closer to settlements, and flow directly into people's homes," she explained, as quoted by VOI from a media broadcast on Friday, September 11. Runners experienced a special event thanks to various interactive activities. A memorable moment occurred at the finish line during the "Water Flow of Hope" celebration, where participants placed water droplet stickers, symbolizing their tangible contribution. "The event is exciting, neat, and very lively since morning at Senayan Park. We can not only enjoy the sport and the fun of Zumba to karaoke, but also share for the distribution of clean water for younger siblings who need it," shared Gita, one of the runners. The race village area also buzzed with activity. Participants visited a donation corner to give books and toys, write appreciation postcards, and record encouraging voice messages for children in NTT, DIY, and South Sulawesi. A Kids Corner offered a space for families to color medals. The main stage was equally lively with a Zumba session, interactive games, and a Best Costume Challenge parade showcasing unique and creative participant outfits. A symbolic donation was also presented: Rp50,000,000 for Clean Water Access assistance and Rp25,000,000 from the Virtual Challenge Run for NTT program. SalingJaga, a sharia life insurance line from Kitabisa, supported the safety and comfort of participants. Marsudi Wijaya, VP of Growth at Kitabisa, emphasized the importance of collaboration in fostering a sense of security and creating tangible impact. "Through Run & Rise 2026, SalingJaga is present to ensure participants can run with a sense of safety and calm through self-protection from the risk of accidents while exercising. However, the real 'finish line' is the real impact that continues for children in NTT, DIY, and South Sulawesi after this activity is completed," said Marsudi. Supported by various lifestyle and health brands, Run & Rise 2026 demonstrated how a small step on the running track can bring significant hope for the future of Indonesian children.
