Repair of old motorboats increases at Mon State's wharves

At the wharves on the Chindwin River in Mon State's Mon State, the number of repairs for old motorboats has increased more than new motorboat constructions, said Ko Zay Lin Maung, the in-charge of Sukkhadhana Wharf in Mon State's Mon State. Previously, as there were no wharves in Mon State's Mon State, new motorboat constructions and repairs had to be carried out in Mandalay and other cities. Now that wharves are available in Mon State's Mon State, costs for motorboat owners have been further reduced and logistics have become faster, said Ko Zay Lin Maung. It is understood from the statement of U Myo Win, the founder of Sukkhadhana Wharf, that requests were made to open a wharf in Mon State's Mon State because the costs incurred when traveling to other cities for repairs were high, and thus the wharf business was started in Mon State's Mon State. Currently, Sukkhadhana Wharf is providing employment opportunities to over 500 workers in various sectors such as painters, blacksmiths, carpenters, and mechanics.
