Vietnam's Top Leader Meets Russian Communist Party Chief, Explores Enhanced Cooperation

Mr. To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President of Vietnam, met with Mr. Gennady Zyuganov, Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, in Moscow on the afternoon of September 7 (local time, evening of the same day Hanoi time) during his state visit to the Russian Federation. The talks were held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, focusing on the further development and deepening of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two parties and countries. Both leaders highly appreciated the progress of cooperation between the two parties and countries and agreed to maintain close coordination in the future. General Secretary and President To Lam reiterated Vietnam's commitment to its relationship with Russia, expressing its intention to further strengthen cooperation, particularly in the fields of politics, economy, trade, investment, defense, security, culture, and science and technology. Discussions also covered international and regional issues, deepening mutual understanding on matters of common concern. Chairman Zyuganov praised the leading role of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the socialist construction and development of Vietnam, stating that the Communist Party of the Russian Federation highly values its friendship with Vietnam. He expressed his expectation that cooperation between the two countries would contribute to the development of each nation and to peace and stability in the international community. This meeting is interpreted as a demonstration of Vietnam's commitment to maintaining its independent foreign policy while strategically managing and developing relations with major powers. In particular, relations with Russia are a crucial element for Vietnam in pursuing a balanced diplomacy in an increasingly multipolar world.
