Banteay Meanchey Governor Orders Strict Measures Against Online Scams
Banteay Meanchey Governor Um Ratry has ordered all law enforcement and authorities at all levels to strengthen cooperation and implement strict measures against online scams. He emphasized that these international crimes not only cause economic losses but also severely impact public security and national honor, demanding a zero-tolerance approach.
Banteay Meanchey Governor Um Ratry has issued a strict order to law enforcement forces and authorities at all levels to enhance cooperation and implement effective measures against online scams within the province. The directive was made on the morning of August 3, 2026, during a video conference meeting held at the provincial hall to discuss and follow up on measures to combat online fraud. During the meeting, Governor Um Ratry emphasized that online scams are complex international crimes that not only damage the economy of victims but also severely impact public security, order, and the honor of the entire nation. He stated, "We must absolutely not tolerate any form of online scam. Relevant officials and local authorities at all levels must strengthen their attention, constantly monitor, and grasp all situations and suspicious locations that are secretly engaging in this illegal activity within their jurisdiction." Concurrently, Governor Um Ratry urged specialized forces and all city/district administrations to continue to strictly enforce local administration, especially in monitoring the residency of foreigners, renting of locations, and various commercial activities, in order to promptly prevent and cut off all schemes of criminal organizations. He also praised and highly valued the efforts of the three types of armed forces who have cooperated well in investigating and cracking down on many major cases. Furthermore, the provincial governor appealed to all citizens to be highly vigilant against all forms of online scams and to report any suspicions immediately to the competent authorities for timely intervention and crackdown, thereby contributing to further improving security, safety, and public order in Banteay Meanchey province.
