Thai King and Queen Visit Hanoi University, Deepening Cultural and Educational Ties with Vietnam

King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen Suthida of Thailand visited Hanoi University on the afternoon of September 16 as part of their state visit to Vietnam. At the university, they met with faculty, staff, and students, deepening the exchange between the two countries. The relationship between Vietnam and Thailand at Hanoi University is clearly demonstrated through Thai language education, cultural exchange, and student exchange programs. The Thai Language and Culture Center was established in 2009, and currently, over 1,000 students are learning Thai as a second foreign language. Additionally, approximately 200 students participate in short-term Thai language programs, and nearly 150 students have had opportunities to study and exchange in Thailand. The King and Queen enjoyed a dance performance by students to the Thai song "Rak Thai," offering warm applause. Nguyen Van Chao, Rector of Hanoi University, expressed his honor in welcoming the royal couple, stating that their visit serves as a significant encouragement for the university's faculty, staff, and students. The Thai Language and Culture Center, renovated and expanded in 2018 with support from the Royal Thai Embassy in Hanoi, provides a space for Vietnamese students to understand and experience Thai culture through language, arts, and interactive activities. The King and Queen observed handicrafts made by students and donated teaching materials and resources to the Thai Language and Culture Center. Hanoi University leadership affirmed their commitment to continue leveraging their strengths in foreign language training, international education, cultural exchange, and academic cooperation. They pledged to create more opportunities for students from both countries to learn together, share experiences, and grow, thereby contributing to the development of Vietnam-Thailand friendship from the younger generation.
