Preah Vihear Authority Launches Preservation and Restoration of Prasat Pram at Koh Ker

The Preah Vihear National Authority held a traditional ceremony on September 8, 2026, to officially launch the second phase of the preservation and restoration project for Prasat Pram (Five Shrines) within the Koh Ker heritage site, located in Khtum village, Srayong commune, Kulen district, Preah Vihear province. The project is led by the Department of Preservation and Archaeology of the Preah Vihear National Authority, with participation from Mr. Iea Darith, Director of the Department, and Mr. Phin Phakdy, Deputy Director, along with technical officials and skilled laborers. The second phase of the project is scheduled to last for four months and includes three main tasks: 1. Repairing the brick shrine, the northern sanctuary, and trimming some tree branches to reduce weight. 2. Supporting the north sandstone library, which faces high risk. 3. Preserving the lintels of the temple and four libraries. The preservation and restoration work on Prasat Pram is being carried out according to the plan and recommendations from expert consultants during a meeting on March 19, 2026. The objective is to prevent structural damage to the temple, preserve its historical value, and ensure the safety of tourists. The first phase of the preservation and restoration project for Prasat Pram was completed in 2025, covering the repair of the southern and central brick shrines.
