Taiwanese Medical Team Provides Free Healthcare and Aid in Siem Reap

A volunteer medical team from Taiwan's Mackay Hospital has continued its free health check-ups and treatments for residents in three districts of Siem Reap province. The initiative, spanning three days from July 20-22, 2026, was facilitated by the Rotary Angkor organization. The team provided general medical examinations and treatment free of charge to citizens in Chan Sor commune, Sot Nikum district; Reul commune, Pouk district; and Rong Ko commune, Kralanh district. The effort aims to alleviate the burden on disadvantaged residents and included the donation of essential food items and supplies. Dr. Chai Wei-Te, a volunteer physician from Mackay Hospital, stated that the 150-year-old institution has been conducting free medical examinations and treatments for people in various countries worldwide with a spirit of solidarity. Specifically during the three-day mission in Siem Reap, volunteer medical personnel from Mackay Hospital, Taiwan, in collaboration with UCB Bank, led by skilled doctors, examined and treated approximately 1,000 residents. Additionally, donations of food, daily necessities, and some funds were provided to 300 underprivileged families. Dr. Chai further indicated that Mackay Hospital, UCB Bank, and Rotary Angkor organization will continue to participate in addressing the hardships faced by residents in other districts of Siem Reap province, working alongside the Cambodian government.
