Vietnam Boosts Cultural Ties and Economic Cooperation, Enhancing Global Presence

Vietnam is steadily enhancing its presence on the international stage through deepening economic ties with Argentina and contributing to international initiatives on cultural heritage preservation. Economically, Vietnam stands as Argentina's sixth-largest trading partner, while Argentina ranks as Vietnam's third-largest in Latin America. Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan has highlighted the importance of strengthening links among business associations, enterprises, and localities through cultural exchanges, tourism, and trade promotion activities. Vietnam also seeks expanded cooperation with Argentina in science and technology, innovation, education and training, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. Vietnam's proactive stance on the global stage is also reflected in its role at the UN General Assembly, which adopted a resolution on the International Decade of Culture for Sustainable Development (2027–2036). The Director-General of UNESCO has expressed gratitude to Vietnam for promoting this initiative. Domestically, international scientific forums are being held to foster further research, exchanges, and discussions on the authenticity in world heritage conservation, in connection with the outstanding universal value, integrity, and cultural values of heritage elements. Furthermore, Vietnamese filmmakers and artists aim to bring the stories of Vietnamese living abroad closer to international audiences, contributing to cinematic and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Europe. Film festivals showcase the distinct character of Vietnam’s southern region, featuring the waterways and traditional handicrafts of the Mekong Delta, thereby increasing interest in cultural diversity. In sports, Vietnam is also hosting international events, such as the first Asian Kun Khmer Championship in Can Tho city, which brought together 236 coaches and athletes from 11 countries. This indicates Vietnam's growing position as a hub for regional and international sporting events. These multifaceted activities demonstrate Vietnam's significant role not only in economic growth but also in culture, science, technology, and international cooperation, underscoring its expanding influence on the global stage while balancing economic development under its one-party system with international engagement.
